Heat Pumps:
Ideal for warmer climates, a heat pump is an all in one cooling and heating system.
During summer months, it works as an air conditioner. It extracts heat from inside
your home and transfers it to the outside air. When the weather’s cooler, it does the
exact opposite, taking heat from outside and moving it inside.
Heat pumps can be combined with any natural gas, propane or electric furnace.
Since heat pumps only move heat from outdoors into your home, rather than creating
heat by burning fossil fuels, it can operate at efficiencies of over 100%. BC Hydro
estimates that a heat pump will reduce heating costs by approximately 57% when
upgrading from a standard efficiency (65%) furnace.
